About Me
My name is LeeAnn LaPaso Halweg
Art has always been a part of my life. I remember as a kid, sitting next to my dad watching him oil paint. He was also a woodworker who made most of the furniture I have in my home. My mom was always sewing clothes or working on a crochet project. My brother is a kinetic artist and my sister is a painter. One of my daughters is a teacher who knits and sews and my other daughter is a mosaic artist with experience working in clay who has worked alongside me for the past few years.
I have been working with clay for over 20 years. I got my start at our local junior college and have been learning every day since. I both wheel throw and hand build stoneware clay which is then glazed and fired to cone 6 (2200 degrees F). The wood frames on my art tiles were handmade by my husband.
Clay is my happy place. It calms me, it invigorates me. I wheel throw, I hand build, I sculpt. I am also a gardener and a nature lover. Most of my items are inspired by this.
